 "Long Live Our Love" Spell

This is something you and your significant other(s) do together. Make magic into a bonding exercise; it will make both endeavors that much stronger.

Here’s an idea:

Put a big jar somewhere you both pass regularly, with a notepad and pen next to it. Write each other love notes and put them into the jar. Whenever either of you needs to remember that love, you can simply take a note out of the jar and read it. Continue until the jar is full.

If you’d rather make a more spell-oriented jar, both of you put in saliva or a strand of hair (knowingly given) and then put a few spoonfuls of any of the following herbs into the jar:

Jasmine (for passion and dreams of each other)
Rosebuds (for love’s promise and for hope)
Red Rose Petals (for love in full bloom)
Raspberry Leaves (for preserving the love you have)
Orris Root (to help love grow)
Coriander (for a healthy relationship or marriage)
Cinnamon Sticks (to spice things up)
    Lavender (for harmony)
Tangerine or Orange Peel (for happiness)

The incantations for these sorts of spells are very personal things. You might recite a bit of poetry or song lyrics that you find meaningful, or you could sing over the jar, or simply make something up. Whatever you choose to say, it should come from the heart.

On a more practical note, try to spend time together doing things that you haven’t done in a while. Go out and have a snowball fight, then make cocoa and curl up together on the sofa. Have dinner by candlelight, even if it’s just takeout. Make time for and get to know each other again. In any relationship, no matter how long or how settled, it’s important to keep “dating”!

Remember: There is no 50/50. You both have to give 100%.

Note: This spell is an original creation of the witch known as Bree NicGarran, inspired by events from the 1998 film, Practical Magic.
